Advanced Diagnostics & Imaging for Pets
Successful Treatment Begins with an Accurate Diagnosis
At Animal Emergency Hospital Volusia, we can do more for our patients than most veterinary ERs by providing a more advanced level of care. That means we can perform special procedures and diagnostic tests to assess your pet’s health, such as ultrasounds and X-rays, administer specialized medication to get them feeling better faster, and use treatments and therapies not typically found outside of major cities.
Animal Diagnostic Capabilities
Some of the methods we use to determine what’s wrong with your pet include:
- Aspirate – Inserting a very thin needle to collect fluid for analysis
- Biopsy – Removing a piece of tissue or a sample of cells for laboratory analysis
- Cytology – Collecting a single cell or small clusters of cells for microscopic analysis
- Endoscopy – Using a minimally invasive procedure to examine the upper digestive system with a tiny camera on the end of a long, flexible tube
- Colonoscopy – Similar to endoscopy, but examining the large intestine (colon) and rectum
Veterinary Imaging Modalities
- CT-Fluoroscopy – combines computed tomography (CT) and real-time moving X-ray visuals, enabling precise imaging and intervention for diagnosing and treating complex medical conditions in animals
- Digital Radiography – an advanced X-ray system that provides high-resolution images of animal’s skeletal structures and internal organs
- Echocardiography – an ultrasound of the heart
- Electrocardiography – A test that measures the electrical activity of the heartbeat
- Endoscopy – a flexible camera is used to visually inspect the internal passages of animals, allowing for minimally invasive diagnostic procedures and targeted treatments
- Ultrasonography – a non-invasive technology using sound waves to create real-time images of the internal structures of animals, aiding in the diagnosis of medical conditions and monitoring of treatments
