Successful Treatment Begins with an Accurate Diagnosis

At Animal Emergency Hospital Volusia, we can do more for our patients than most veterinary ERs by providing a more advanced level of care.

That means we can perform special procedures and diagnostic tests to assess your pet’s health, such as CT scans, ultrasounds and digital X-rays, administer specialized medication to get them feeling better faster, and use treatments and therapies not typically found outside of major referral centers.

Animal Diagnostic Capabilities

Some of the methods we use to determine what’s wrong with your pet include:

Aspirate – Inserting a very thin needle to collect fluid for analysis
Biopsy – Removing a piece of tissue or a sample of cells for laboratory analysis
Cytology – Collecting a single cell or small clusters of cells for microscopic analysis
Colonoscopy – Similar to endoscopy, but examining the large intestine (colon) and rectum
Endoscopy – Using a minimally invasive procedure to examine the upper digestive system with a tiny camera on the end of a long, flexible tube

Imaging Modalities

Digital Radiography – An advanced X-ray system that produces images immediately, often reducing the need to sedate most pets
Echocardiography – An ultrasound of the heart
Electrocardiography – A test that measures the electrical activity of the heartbeat
Fluoroscopy – A “movie” version of an HDVI
High-Definition Volumetric Imaging (HDVI) – A sophisticated system that takes incredibly detailed 3-dimensional images
Ultrasonography – A non-invasive technology using sound waves to produce pictures of internal organs and systems
