A Central Florida native, Dr. Honsted grew up in Ocala surrounded by animals and the people who cared deeply for them—a formative environment that inspired her lifelong dedication to veterinary medicine and the human–animal bond. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn University, where she served as a student leader for the large animal emergency service after hours and conducted research aimed at improving the welfare of teaching animals within the veterinary curriculum.
Today, Dr. Honsted’s clinical passions include emergency and critical care, oncology, and hospice and senior pet care. She finds profound meaning in guiding families through both the most urgent and the most tender moments of their pets’ lives. With a communication style grounded in empathy, clarity, and respect, she strives to help owners understand complex medical conditions and feel supported in making informed decisions under stressful circumstances.
Outside the hospital, Dr. Honsted extends her compassion by fostering and rescuing hospice and special-needs dogs. When she’s not caring for patients or her foster pets, she can usually be found on horseback, spending time outdoors with her dogs, or enjoying any place that brings her close to water and sunshine.
